Director

Director is a conversation about your project with the configured Codex runtime. Use it to develop an idea, inspect a design, request a change or follow implementation work.

Connect and start

Open Settings → Connections → Codex to connect the installed runtime using its existing account setup. Open Director from the title bar, View → Director conversation, or a subject’s Discuss action.

Choose the conversation relevant to your work. Projects can retain several conversations with their own drafts and context. Model choices come from the connected runtime rather than a fixed list promised by this manual.

Give it the right context

Attach the page or subject you want to discuss and state the outcome you want. For visual review, Discuss can capture the visible composition. Inspect the attachment before sending.

Captured context describes that moment. If a file has changed substantially, provide the current version rather than assuming an older message was updated.

Press Ctrl+Enter to send; Enter creates a new line. Your draft remains separate from a sent message.

Requests can perform actions

Director can use supported application actions over the same files and project state as the native interface. Be clear whether you want an explanation, an edit or implementation.

An explicit implementation request or Implement action can start issue-scoped work. A Ready label does not. Material destructive or external actions may require a decision or permission; ordinary local discussion does not publish your writing by itself.

Save accepted design into project files when it becomes durable knowledge. A conversation should not be the only place the game’s rules exist.

Keep context while inspecting

Switch to Details for the active subject’s properties and references, or History for its available history. Return to Director to continue the conversation. The page remains the subject; the pane is another way to inspect or discuss it.

If the provider is unavailable or delivery is uncertain, read the reported state before retrying. Local design work can continue. See recovery guidance.
